Free Quotation and Estimate Generator

A quotation sets out what you will supply and at what price, before any supply happens. This generator produces one with item-wise pricing, GST shown separately so the customer sees the tax-inclusive figure, and a validity date so an old price does not come back months later.

A quotation is not a tax invoice. It creates no GST liability on its own, your customer cannot claim input tax credit against it, and nothing has to be reported in a return because of it. It is a commercial document, so what matters is that it is clear, priced correctly and dated.

Everything runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, and your own business details stay in this browser so the next quotation starts where you left off.

  • A quotation is not a document prescribed under GST. It creates no liability by itself and no input tax credit can be claimed on it, so the tax shown here is indicative of what the eventual invoice would carry.

How to use it

  1. 1

    Fill in your business

Name, GSTIN if you have one, address and contact details. These are saved in this browser for next time.

  2. 2

    Add the customer

Who the quotation is for. A GSTIN is optional here, since a quotation carries no tax consequence by itself.

  3. 3

    Price the items

Description, quantity, rate and the GST rate you expect to charge, so the customer sees both the price and the tax on it.

  4. 4

    Set a validity date

The date after which the quoted prices no longer hold. This is the field most quotations leave out and most disputes turn on.

  5. 5

    Print or save as PDF

Use the print button and choose Save as PDF to send it by email, or print it on your letterhead.

Frequently asked questions

A quotation is an offer to supply at a stated price, usually open for a stated period. A proforma invoice is a provisional bill sent before the supply, often so the buyer can arrange payment or an import licence. Neither is a tax invoice, neither creates a GST liability by itself, and input tax credit cannot be claimed on either.
Showing it separately is the clearer practice, because the customer then knows both the price and the total outflow, and there is no argument later about whether the quoted figure included tax. This generator shows the taxable value, the tax and the total, so the quotation reads the same way the eventual invoice will.
No. GST law prescribes the contents of a tax invoice, a bill of supply, a receipt voucher and a credit note, but not a quotation. It is a commercial document, so the format is yours to choose. What it should carry in practice is who is quoting, to whom, for what, at what price, and until when.
A quotation is an offer. It generally becomes binding when the customer accepts it while it is still open, at which point the terms on it are the terms of the deal. That is why the validity date and the terms block matter: they are what limit how long, and on what basis, you are bound.
Not automatically here, because the two documents are separate and a tax invoice needs details a quotation does not carry, such as the place of supply and an invoice number from your own series. The practical route is to open the invoice generator and enter the same items once the customer accepts.
The things that cause disputes: how long the price holds, what the payment terms are, what the delivery or completion timeline is, what is excluded from the price such as freight or installation, and whether taxes are extra. A short, specific terms block is worth more than a long generic one.
No. Anyone can quote a price. If you are not registered you simply leave the GSTIN blank and do not charge GST on the quotation, because an unregistered person cannot collect it. If you expect to cross the registration threshold on this order, say so in the terms rather than quoting a tax you cannot yet charge.
